Jumieges Abbey was a gift to the French ruler Clovis II and his queen Bathild in 654. They then gave the territory to Filibertos, a French nobleman who was banished soon after. Jumieges Abbey was passed from one owner to another before William the Conqueror consecrated it in 1067.

The Abbey finally fell victim to the French Revolution, but not before withstanding invasions by the Vikings, the English, the Huguenots, the Wars of Religion, and more. Jumieges Abbey was destroyed by the Revolutionaries, leaving behind centuries-old remains.
