Originally established as a religious camp in the late 1800s, the location is situated on a peninsula within an Indiana State Park. Rose Island opened as an entertainment park in the 1920s. Families could ride the rides and eat fair cuisine for $7 per car.

Rose Island was devastated in 1937 when a huge flood washed away many of its buildings and irreparably damaged others. If you're courageous enough, you may hike through this abandoned amusement park that was submerged under water and has been eerie for a century. It's not a fun place to be. Rose Island has been adopted by Indiana, which even built a $2.4 million bridge to link visitors to the peninsula.
